Piedmont Workforce Network
The Piedmont Workforce Network (Local Workforce Development Board 6) has the central role of providing leadership and direction on local strategic workforce issues, identifying local needs and developing strategies to address those needs. The Piedmont Region Workforce Board has 34 members, 19 of whom are business representatives. Other members include representatives of education, economic development, labor, community based organizations, and Workforce Center required partners.
The Local Geographic Area
The Piedmont Workforce Network’s region includes all of Planning Districts 9 (Counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock) and 10 (City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson). The Governor has approved this area as Local Workforce Development Area VI (LWIA VI), Piedmont Workforce Development Board.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
The Piedmont Workforce Network is responsible for the oversight and administration of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s (WIOA) Adult, Dislocated Worker and Youth programs in the Central Virginia region. These programs are designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
