The Virginia Workforce Center – Charlottesville combines various agencies (listed below) to provide comprehensive assistance to job seekers and employers.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs (WIOA):  Operated by Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act provides job seekers access to employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.

Virginia Employment Commission (VEC):  The Virginia Employment Commission assists job seekers with information about unemployment insurance benefits and job search workshops. The VEC also assists employers by helping create job descriptions and by posting jobs through the Virginia Workforce Connection.

Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS):  The Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services specializes in providing assistance to job seekers with disabilities.  It also can assist employers with Americans with Disabilities Act and other legislation compliance.

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC):  Piedmont Virginia Community College provides career counseling and training to job seekers.  For employers with specific training needs, PVCC can create customized classes to create a pipeline of employees or to train incumbent workers.

Department of Veterans Services (DVS):  The Department of Veteran Services helps veterans find training and employment opportunities in Central Virginia.  DVS can also offer employers hiring incentives for veterans.

Thomas Jefferson Adult and Career Education (TJACE): TJACE helps adults acquire their GED (high school diploma substitute) by offering tutoring and testing opportunities.

George Mason Procurement and Technical Assistance Program (PTAP):  George Mason’s PTAP helps businesses in Central Virginia apply for federal, local, and state contracts.

Central Virginia Small Business Development Center:  The Central Virginia Small Business Development Center offers training and one-on-one consulting to small and medium-sized businesses in Central Virginia.

Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development: The Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development helps businesses seeking a new location find a home in Central Virginia and helps local businesses remain and grow in the region.
