Cyber-Security Awareness: A Workshop for Businesses
Attendees will participate in an interactive session, hear from university panelists, and connect with resources to learn more about:
- How to protect your business from intentional attacks or unintentional damage by well-meaning employees
- How to guard against the embarrassment, legal liability, or decreased productivity of security breaches
- How to evaluate security tools and techniques based on your business needs
Keynote Speaker: Patricia (Pat) Toth is the Project Leader for the Security Outreach and Integration Computer Security Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
This workshop is a part of NIST’s outreach program and is designed to make NIST resources more accessible to the small business, arming owners and managers with specific techniques to improve their Information Security practices. This special event is made available by a collaboration between JMU’s ISAT Department in the College of Integrated Science and Engineering, the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center, and the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council.

Parking: Parking is available in the JMU Ice House lot on Bruce Street from 7:30am-1:00pm (no permit or tag needed for this morning!) Additional public parking is open in the upper lot (near Water Street) or in the Water Street Parking Deck.
