Thursday, April 9, 2020

CANCELLED!

Since the Commonwealth of Virginia is now in a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 virus, the Central Virginia SBDC is regretfully postponing or cancelling non-critical events for the time being.  We hope you remain safe during this challenging time.

Our next Doing Business with the Commonwealth of Virginia workshop is currently scheduled for May 12.  If interested, please register for this workshop and we will keep you updated on its status.  If you do not want to wait for this workshop and would like to schedule a one-on-one appointment to talk with our instructor, please call Lynda at 434-295-8198 to get this scheduled.

Are you interested in selling your goods and services to the Commonwealth of Virginia and ready to take advantage of the powerful marketing tools available to accomplish this goal?

Come to our class and learn from an expert about free eVA registration (Virginia’s online, electronic procurement system) and SWaM certification (Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business) and navigating Virginia’s purchasing process.

During this class, Courtney Mustin, Business Services Manager, Virginia Department of Small Business & Supplier Diversity, will inform small business entrepreneurs and owners  about the benefits of the small business set-aside preference program, which is in place for Virginia’s procurement agency and many local government procurement agencies as well.  The presentation also highlights how to position a start-up or emerging small business to obtain contracts with state or local governments using eVA as their procurement portal.  Other topics include the application process for SWaM and Micro Business certification as well as the process to become an eVA registered vendor.

This workshop is approximately 2.5 hours in duration and is open to entrepreneurs considering the start-up of a business as well as owners of existing and emerging small business.

For those that are already SWaM certified and eVA registered, we will also be offering one-on-one counseling sessions in the afternoon if you’re looking for additional assistance.

During your one-on-one, Ms. Mustin will offer tips and best practices for utilizing the information available on the eVA website in order to develop business and to win contract awards from state and local government agencies.  These appointments are approximately 1.5 hours in length and will provide a vendor with valuable tools for analyzing the supply and demand for the goods and services your business provides.

You may register for the class below, but please call Lynda at our office at (434) 295-8198 to schedule an individual session with Courtney.
