Virginia ranked 2021 State of the Year for Overall Best Business Climate by Business Facilities

Virginia was ranked as the 2021 State of the Year for Overall Best Business Climate by Business Facilities.

“For the first time, we thought it was appropriate to name three winners in this prestigious process,” BF Editorial Director Seth Mendelson said in the news release. “As businesses look to expand or relocate, the questions they have about communities are becoming more complex. They want to know as much as they can about a community before making a final decision. We think this is going to help them make informed choices.”

The state was among two other States of the Year winners including Tennessee and Massachusetts.

“The commonwealth’s location, right next to the District of Columbia, combined with its pro-business work environment, strong workforce and educational systems, makes it a great place to do business in,” Mendelson said.

Business Facilities said Virginia was able to add Best Overall Business Climate to its repertoire thanks to the “many economic development councils in the commonwealth, both local and statewide, are taking to make the area more attractive.” The publication went on to cite the commonwealth for having the 10th lowest unemployment rate in the country with a workforce in excess of 4.1 million people. Not only that, the commonwealth has plenty of workforce development programs and connections in place for the success of Virginia businesses.
